Our history

History of the TNSRC

From an unincorporated chapter in 1970 to today's chartered affiliate — a brief look at how TNSRC became the society it is now.

  1. 1970

Tennessee Society for Respiratory Care was established in Tennessee. The same year, the Tennessee Chapter of the American Association for Inhalation Therapy received its IRS tax-exemption letter, approving not-for-profit status as an unincorporated professional association.

  2. 1978

The group was incorporated and a charter was filed with the Tennessee Secretary of State under the name Tennessee Society for Respiratory Therapy.

  3. 1995

An amendment to the charter was filed with the Secretary of State, changing the name to the Tennessee Society for Respiratory Care, Inc.
